Mystery Reader Scheme

This is a scheme we launched 3 years ago at Egerton and is a firm favourite with the children.

We invite adults from the school family, parents and grandparents as well as people from the local community to become a ‘Mystery Reader’. This would involve them coming to school for just 20 minutes at the end of a day convenient to them to read their favourite story or an extract or just to share some of their favourite books with the children.

The children do not know who will arrive at their classroom door which creates great excitement but the biggest benefit to this is that adults are acting as really positive role models in continuing to fuel the children’s enthusiasm for literature.

Mrs McAll manages this scheme and will work with you to find a time and age group that you are comfortable with. The more Mystery Readers we have it means that the frequency of doing it maybe as little as once every 2 months.

If you would like to take part in this scheme please complete the reply slip below and Mrs McAll will be in touch. Could those who are already part of the scheme also complete the slip for us to enable us to update our list, just in case your preferred day has changed. I am hugely appreciative of anyone willing to do this.
